last summer days

For the last five days of summer, Ashton and I took a road trip (just the two of us) to St. George. It was scary for me. I hate driving on the freeway and so this was a huge step in my driving abilities. We hopped in the car at 9 a.m. on Thursday and drove three hours exactly to Cedar City where we played with my nieces Isabelle and Jill. When we had sufficiently worn Allison out, we hopped back in the car and drove forty-five minutes to St. George to stay with my Aunt Frances and Uncle Gordon and cousins Sonja, Conrad and Helen. Helen unwillingly gave up her bedroom to Ashton and I. But before we even got settled, all seven of us hopped in the car and drove to the Tuacahn theater to see Hairspray. It was fantastic. I normally don't like Broadway, but I enjoyed that.

Day two: We bee-lined it for Starbucks and frappucinos. They were delicious. After that, we went shopping. All day. We were exhausted when it was over so we got in the pool to cool off from the 100+ degree weather. Sonja, Ashton and I babysat and watched Legally Blonde and Australia.

Day three: We woke up nice and early, pushed Sonja out of bed and drove up to Zion National Park where we hiked two miles up the Narrows and then hiked two miles down. After that, we hopped in the pool to cool down. We showered and changed and went to a stake dance where Ashton and I pretended to be Sonja's British cousins who were here for the wedding of our brother. They totally bought it. Every single one of Sonja's friends actually thought we were British. The first question they asked us is if we knew One Direction. We answered and said that we had lunch with them on occasion. It was hilarious.

Day four: We went to church. Sonja, Ashton and I watched Pride and Prejudice... twice.

Day five: We went shopping again. Got in the pool again. Relaxed some more. Fantastic. Drove up to Cedar City and saw Merry Wives of Windsor at the Shakespeare Festival. We stayed at Cameron and Allison's house. We watched ReMODELed on Hulu until about one a.m. Also fantastic.

Day six: Had pizza for breakfast and drove home.
